Dialog in Silence™ invites visitors into a completely different world, a world of silence. Stripped of the spoken word, other forms of expression are used to communicate and language must be made visible rather than audible in order to be understood. Hearing impaired guides take visitors in small groups through the soundproof exhibition. This creates a role reversal: those with hearing cannot rely on their usual methods of communicating, while those who are hearing impaired, by virtue of their experience with sign language, are more competent and become ambassadors of a world without sound.
