Michael Long is the founder and executive director of SailFuture. He derives the vision for SailFuture’s programs from his personal experience spending two-years in Florida’s juvenile justice system and the experiences of his peers who weren't as fortunate. He holds a degree in public policy and economics from New College of Florida and is a 2013 Truman Scholar. An avid sailor, Mike also holds a US Coast Guard 50 ton Captain's license – master of sail and power.

In addition to SailFuture's direct service programs for high-risk juvenile offenders, Mike is interested in systematic change through policy. He serves as the Chair of Florida's State Advisory Group to the Department of Juvenile Justice, a federally mandated body responsible for department oversight and federal grants allocations.
